Brian L. Hollander, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Hollander is one of the recognized pioneers in the online financial advice field. In the
mid 90s, Mr. Hollander founded the Company to develop a computer-based financial planning
system to ensure that all investors, from high net worth to those with modest means, could
have access to high quality, personalized financial planning and advice. With the advent of
the Internet, DirectAdvice created one of the first Web-based planning and advice solutions.
Today, DirectAdvice provides a comprehensive fully customizable planning and advice platform
to banks, brokerage firms and financial institutions throughout the world.
Prior to founding DirectAdvice in 1995, Mr. Hollander served as an executive at Aetna
Life and Casualty and as Chief Executive Officer of Rutgers Casualty Insurance Company.
Earlier in his career Mr. Hollander was a law clerk to a United States District Court
Judge in Hartford, CT, and a practicing attorney with Day, Berry & Howard, a large
Northeast regional law firm. Mr. Hollander has served on the Boards of Directors of
numerous public companies and non-profit organizations.
In his capacity as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hollander is responsible for the
strategic direction and overall performance of DirectAdvice, and spends a substantial
amount of his time developing new business opportunities.
Curtis B. Downing, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology
Officer. Mr. Downing is responsible for the Company's technology strategy and implementation.
He designed the Company's systems architecture and proprietary technologies. He is also the
principal developer of the Company's proprietary software that delivers the Company's
investment service. Prior to joining the Company in 1995, Mr. Downing was a software systems
consultant to United Technologies Corporation and The Hartford Insurance Group, among other
companies. Mr. Downing's 25 years of software development experience includes microcomputer
diagnostic and operating system development at Xerox Corporation (for which he received a
patent for a multi-processor diagnostic control algorithm) and UNIX operating system kernel
development at AlliedSignal, Bunker Ramo division (his modifications were published in a
paper at a UNIFORM conference).
Leslie A. Woodworth, Vice President, Content Development.
Ms. Woodworth is a primary content and tools expert with the mission of defining and leading content
creation and coordinating team leaders, project managers and technical development managers to
deliver new and customized services. She focuses on the output/plan requirements and implementation
of logic and language that comprises a financial "plan." Ms. Woodworth joined the Company in 1997
with over 17 years experience in software development, business analysis, and project management for
new technology applications at The Hartford Life Companies. Ms. Woodworth holds an MBA from the
University of Massachusetts and received her BA from Mount Holyoke College.
Michael S. Holland, Vice President, Product & Marketing. Mr. Holland is responsible
for strategy and implemenation of the user experience, features, and marketing of the DirectAdvice products
and platform. He works closely with the technology team to innovate and improve the DirectAdvice platform,
and with clients and partners to ensure the solutions clearly deliver value. Responsible for many of the
changes in the platform over the last 4 years, Mr. Holland developed DirectAdvice's
"Progressive Financial Planning" system. An experienced product managment professional, Mr. Holland
joined the Company in May 2000, after serving on the management team of Infonautics Corporation, a
publicly traded internet information company in Philadelphia. He holds a BA in cognitive psychology
and business from Cornell University and a MBA from Duke's Fuqua School of Management.
Jeff Shaw, Vice President, Operations & Project Management. Mr. Shaw is responsible for the
design, implementation and operation of the DirectAdvice technology infrastructure in addition to managing
the implementation of technology projects. In this role, he also manages the customer support and data
security functions for the Company. His experience encompasses a broad range of technology planning,
implementation and support, with prior management positions in systems and network management at Computer
Sciences Corporation, Kaiser Permanente and Aetna Life & Casualty. Mr Shaw joined DirectAdvice in
July 2000. Mr. Shaw holds a BA in mathematics from Wesleyan University and an MBA in management from the University of Hartford.
